Topping-out ceremony for berlin modern: a milestone in the construction phase
On 17 October 2025, the Stiftung Preußischer Kuturbesitz celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the new berlin modern building together with the construction workers involved, Minister of State for Culture Wolfram Weimer, SPK President Marion Ackermann, Director Klaus Biesenbach and architect Jacques Herzog. The largely completed shell marks an important step forward in the construction phase – and a milestone on the way to a new Kulturforum, where art, architecture and the public will come together in a special way in the future.
The construction site has been set up
The work has been proceeding full force since fall 2020. First the building site was prepared, and the top layer of soil was removed. Then the building pit was excavated.
